Quick answer

From Mysuru, Valparai is about 310–340 km by road, 8–9 hours via Chamarajanagar, the Hasanur (Dhimbam) ghat, Sathyamangalam and Pollachi. This package includes door pickup in Mysuru and either a long daytime drive straight to Valparai (3 days 2 nights) or a scenic break in Ooty via Bandipur and Mudumalai (4 days 3 nights). Good to know

  • The forest roads through Bandipur–Mudumalai and the Hasanur–Sathyamangalam ghat have night-time traffic restrictions set by the authorities, so we plan to be through them in daylight.
  • The direct drive is long. For children or elders, the 4D/3N plan with a night in Ooty is far more comfortable.
  • Between Mudumalai and Ooty we choose between the steep Kalhatti ghat and the gentler Gudalur road; see Ooty to Mudumalai routes.
