    Day 1

    Campus → Pollachi → Aliyar → 40 hairpin bends → Valparai

    • Depends on your campus; 64 km from Pollachi · 105 km from Coimbatore
    • Valparai
    • Lunch, dinner

Early departure from campus, with a breakfast stop. At Aliyar Dam and Loam's View Point, students see the Parambikulam–Aliyar reservoirs and the plains around Pollachi from above. After lunch and room allocation in Valparai, an optional evening session with our naturalist introduces the plateau: why tea estates and forest fragments sit side by side, and how to behave around elephants and gaur.

  2. Tea factory surrounded by plantations in ValparaiDay 2

    Day 2

Rainforest, tea and viewpoints → return

    • About 50 km of local driving + descent
    • Back on campus by night
    • Breakfast, lunch

Start the morning at the Puthuthottam rainforest fragment beside the road, where lion-tailed macaques are often seen (watched quietly from the road, with no feeding). Then take a tea-estate walk on estate roads and stop at Sholayar Dam's viewpoint or Nallamudi Poonjolai, depending on group size and estate access. After lunch, the coach starts down the ghat in daylight.

Good to know

  • We need a list of travellers with ages and emergency contacts, plus a letter from the institution for large groups. Students should carry their college or school ID cards.
  • Swimming or entering the water at Aliyar, Sholayar, Koolangal or any waterfall is not allowed on our student tours, because currents and depths are unpredictable.
  • Large coaches cannot use some narrow estate roads. For Nallamudi and smaller viewpoints, we shuttle students in Tempo Travellers or trim the plan.
  • We recommend at least one staff member for every 15 students, including female staff for mixed groups.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can't find yours? Ask us on WhatsApp — a real person replies.

Is Valparai good for a college tour?

Yes. It combines an adventurous ghat drive, tea landscapes, dams and wildlife in a compact area, it is affordable for groups, and it works well as an environmental-science field trip.

How many students can you handle?

From 15 up to about 50 per departure, using coaches and Tempo Travellers. Larger groups can be split across days or properties.

What does a student package cost per head?

It depends on group size, transport and room type. Larger groups sharing a coach and dorms pay much less per head than small groups. Share your numbers for a per-student quote, and see the price guide.

Can you provide a naturalist talk for our students?

Yes. Ask for the optional session with our founder on rainforest fragments, wildlife and responsible travel when you enquire.
