Quick answer

Loam's View Point is a roadside viewpoint near the 9th hairpin bend on the Pollachi–Valparai ghat, looking down over the Aliyar reservoir and the plains towards Pollachi. It takes 10–20 minutes, has limited roadside parking, and is best in morning light. Nilgiri tahr and macaques are sometimes seen on nearby rocks — watch, but don't feed them.

What you see

The Aliyar reservoir, the dam wall and on clear days the patchwork of coconut groves around Pollachi. The ghat road's lower bends are visible below.

Tips

  • Morning light is best for photos.
  • Keep to the barrier; the drop is steep.
  • Macaques here are wild — keep food in the car.
