Mahesh grew up among the tea estates and forests of the Anamalai Hills. With a postgraduate background in environmental science, he started Valparai Mahesh Travels to show visitors the plateau the way locals know it — unhurried, safe and respectful of the wildlife that shares these hills.
What started as a single car and a lot of local knowledge has grown into a fleet of 8 vehicles of our own and 5 attached vehicles, with branches in Pollachi, Coimbatore, Kochi. Guests still meet Mahesh on many trips — often at the wheel, pointing out a hornbill or explaining how the estates and rainforest fragments share these hills.
We plan every itinerary the way we'd plan it for family: realistic drive times, daylight on the ghat and forest roads, stays we have seen with our own eyes, and a clear, itemised price.

What guides every trip
Naturalist first
We explain the landscape — birds, primates, forests and tea — and follow wildlife etiquette on every drive.
Safety on hill roads
Daylight driving on ghats and forest roads, rested drivers and vehicles maintained for steep climbs.
Our own fleet
Sedans to coaches, with drivers who know the 40 hairpin bends and the Malakkappara forest road.
Local presence
Based in Valparai with branches in Pollachi, Coimbatore, Kochi for pickups and support.
Hospitality
