Deepavali long weekend
Celebrate the festival at home, then slip away to the green, post-monsoon hills.
The Valparai Diwali weekend package is a 2D/1N or 3D/2N getaway timed around the Deepavali holidays in October or November, with a private cab, stay, breakfast and dinner, and the tea country at its greenest after the monsoon. North-east monsoon showers are possible, so the plan stays flexible. Please skip crackers on the plateau, which is wildlife country.
Day 1Day 1
Most families celebrate Deepavali at home and leave the next morning. Drive up via Aliyar Dam and the 40 hairpin bends, with a stop at Loam's View Point. Spend the afternoon at Sri Balaji Temple and Koolangal river (watching from the bank if the water is high after rain).
Day 2Day 2
October and November are good months for Chinnakallar Falls and misty mornings at Nallamudi Poonjolai, followed by Sholayar Dam and an estate walk. If north-east monsoon showers roll in, we switch to shorter hops between the rain bands.
Day 3Day 3
After breakfast and some tea shopping for the family, descend in daylight. On the last holiday day we leave by late morning to beat the return traffic.

Booked 5 days 4 nights tour package with family of 6 persons and 2 kids from Chennai.Family and enjoyed the beautiful sightseeings of valparai parambikulam athirapally falls.special mention they given a very good stay for 4 nights with breathtaking views and parambikulam stay arranged by Mahesh sir was highly appreciated.As Mahesh sir was a naturalist with him as a cab driver for our 5 days trip was very informative and we doesn't see a person with tons of knowledge in wildlife and local insights. We enjoyed many wildlife spottings elephant,leopard,sloth bear,wild dogs,great Indian guar,lion tailed macaque,giant squirrel, and many birds etc in this tour with help of Mahesh.He is very good guide and good friend I had got from valparai. Food provided in the package was very excellent and home made local stuff.Special mention on time food was delivered to room.Non veg was very tasty as we paid that belongs to our request. We enjoyed local cusines,bamboo rafting,tribal dance,tribal people visit, with help of Mahesh and stay given inside the forest was highly recommend by this travels. We covered all places and tour was very customer friendly.Punctual on time pick up drop feels we are very safe.As with family Mahesh sir driving skills was out of box in hills journey, Vehicle given by them was Innova very clean and excellent maintenance with service records feels very safe to drive for 5 days. Yes. The hills are green after the monsoon, the waterfalls are flowing and it is cooler than the plains. Expect some showers.
The morning after Deepavali is usually easiest, when the roads are clear.
The north-east monsoon brings showers in some weeks, usually in the afternoons. Our driver plans around them.
We ask guests not to. The plateau is wildlife habitat, and noise disturbs the animals.
Leave on Saturday morning (or Friday night) and be back for Monday, with a proper night in the hills.
