The Palani ghat is the short, scenic way up from Coimbatore.
From Coimbatore to Kodaikanal, the shortest route is about 175 km (5–5.5 hours) via Pollachi, Udumalpet, Palani and the Palani–Kodaikanal ghat road. The alternative via Dindigul and Batlagundu is longer (about 240 km) but uses the busier main ghat. Start early to climb in daylight and stop at Palani if you want darshan.
