Quick answer

From Bengaluru, fly to Coimbatore (about 1 hour) or take an overnight bus or train, then a 3–3.5 hour cab to Valparai. Driving all the way is about 440–470 km (9–10 hours) via Hosur, Krishnagiri, Salem, Tiruppur and Pollachi. The Mysuru–Sathyamangalam route has a ghat through a tiger reserve with night-traffic restrictions.
