Periyar lake boating at Thekkady is run by the official operator inside Periyar Tiger Reserve, with a limited number of boat trips at set time slots each day. Tickets are sold online and at the counter, and popular slots sell out, especially early morning and on holidays. Elephants, gaur and birds are often seen along the shore; sightings are never guaranteed.
