The Nilgiri Mountain Railway runs between Mettupalayam, Coonoor and Ooty; the Mettupalayam–Coonoor rack section is the most scenic. Reserved tickets are sold on IRCTC and sell out quickly, especially in summer and on holidays, so book as soon as the reservation window opens. Tour packages can include the ride only if you hold confirmed tickets; our cab meets you at the other end.
