The Munnar to Alleppey route is about 170 km and takes around 5 hours via Adimali, Kothamangalam, Muvattupuzha and Kottayam, descending from the tea hills to the backwaters. Leave Munnar by 7 AM to make a typical midday houseboat check-in. Traffic around Kottayam can add time on weekdays.
