Quick answer

Marayoor's main sights are Kerala's natural sandalwood forest (seen from the road; protected), the Muniyara dolmens (ancient burial chambers), the Ezhuthu Guha rock shelter with prehistoric paintings, Marayoor jaggery units (the jaggery has a GI tag), the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary to the north, and waterfalls on the Munnar road. Most sights take half a day.

Etiquette

  • Sandalwood areas are strictly protected — stay on roads.
  • Don't touch or climb dolmens.
  • Buy jaggery directly from units to support farmers.
